Milan Fashion Spotlight: Michelle Francine Ngonmo
Michelle Francine Ngonmo is a Cameroonian-Italian fashion producer. She was up before dawn. She prepared a runway debut for an emerging Ghanaian designer in Milan.
Ngonmo founded the Afrofashion Association ten years ago to support African and Black creatives in Italy. She produces runway shows, mentors designers, and runs the Black Carpet Awards.
Her organization has worked with 3,000 creatives, with 92 now in sustainable creative careers. Ngonmo emphasizes that Italy’s fashion scene is no longer homogenous but full of diverse talent.
Funding challenges remain. Ngonmo now focuses on institutions that have stayed committed. This highlights the need for ongoing support and representation in the fashion industry.
