The Walt Disney Company announced Tuesday. Josh D’Amaro will become the company’s next CEO in March. He will succeed current chief executive Bob Iger, who will step down later this year.

D’Amaro, 54, currently chairs Disney’s experiences unit, overseeing the company’s global theme parks, hotel resorts, cruise ships, and consumer products. He joined Disney in 1998 and formally assumes the CEO role on March 18 at the company’s upcoming annual meeting.

“He has an instinctive appreciation of the Disney brand. He deeply understands what resonates with our audiences,” Iger said in a statement. “His ability to combine creativity with operational excellence is exemplary, and I am thrilled for Josh and the company.”

In addition, Dana Walden will become Disney’s president and chief creative officer. She will oversee entertainment, media, and content. This includes the company’s streaming platforms. Walden previously led Disney’s entertainment media and news divisions.

D’Amaro is scheduled to sit down with David Muir on World News Tonight Tuesday to discuss the leadership transition.
