Be Still Enough to Hear

Scripture Readings
Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
1 Kings 19:12
“…and after the fire came a gentle whisper.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…”

Morning Meditation
Sit comfortably.
Breathe in slowly…
hold…
release.
Let the noise settle.
The notifications.
The pressure.
The constant need to figure everything out.
Now, create space.
Not to think—
but to listen.
God often speaks in stillness, not in urgency.
Let yourself be quiet enough to hear.

Reflection | Devotional Thought
We live in a world that rewards noise.
Movement is praised.
Busyness feels productive.
And silence can feel uncomfortable.
But clarity does not come from chaos.
It comes from stillness.
In 1 Kings 19:12, God was not in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire—
He was in the whisper.
That means if we are always rushing, always reacting, always filling space—we may miss what God is saying entirely.
Stillness is not inactivity.
It is alignment.
It is the decision to pause long enough to hear direction before moving.
Ask yourself:
- When was the last time I was truly still?
- What am I trying to solve without first listening?
- What might God be saying that I haven’t made space to hear?
You don’t need more noise.
You need clarity.
And clarity begins when you slow down.

Morning Prayer
Father God,
Quiet my mind and steady my spirit.
Help me to step away from the noise long enough to hear You clearly.
Teach me to trust Your voice over my urgency,
Your direction over my assumptions.
Give me peace in stillness
and confidence in what You reveal.
Let today be guided—not rushed.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Quote — Jarvus Ricardo Hester
“Stillness is not weakness—it’s where clarity is born.”

Quote— Maya Angelou
“Nothing will work unless you do.”
