WASHINGTON — Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have agreed to testify. They will appear before the House Oversight Committee regarding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This information comes from attorneys for the couple.
Committee Chair Rep. James Comer had threatened contempt of Congress charges after the Clintons initially did not comply with a subpoena. Their lawyers requested mutually agreeable deposition dates and asked that contempt proceedings be held in abeyance.
Comer indicated that he has not formally dropped the threat. This threat could carry fines or incarceration if pursued and successfully prosecuted. The proceedings remain under close public and media scrutiny.
