UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan — The Church of Holy Name of Jesus will remain operational. This is due to a $96 million agreement with developers Rockefeller Group and Atlas Capital Group. They plan to redevelop underutilized portions of the church campus.

The project will convert the former school, convent, and recreation buildings into mixed-income rental housing. It will also preserve the church, its rectory, and ongoing ministry.

“This agreement allows the parish to continue its mission. It helps in adapting to the changing needs of the community,” church officials said. The deal is expected to close next spring, marking a significant step in balancing historic preservation with urban development.
