Amazon is cutting 16,000 jobs in its second round of layoffs in three months. The move follows a reduction of 14,000 workers in October.

The company says generative AI and automation are replacing some corporate roles. It also seeks to streamline operations after rapid pandemic-era growth.

U.S.-based employees have 90 days to apply for new roles internally. Those who don’t secure a position will receive severance, outplacement services, and continued health benefits.

Amazon says it will continue hiring in key strategic areas. CEO Andy Jassy has emphasized that AI will reshape corporate jobs over the next few years.
